Sassy, I met my first wife when she signed up for Karate classes. I had been there about a year, and really wasn’t there to meet someone, so I just got lucky. It’s a pretty male saturated endeavor, after all. But maybe that’s closer to what you’re looking for?
Unless you get really serious about the martial arts, I suggest free-bee community Tae-Kwon Do or Shotokan classes.

Great suggestions, Joe!
Sassy, I have a very similar problem. All the guys in my improv/sketch classes are unemployed and/or taken, lol. I’ve already decided that it’s just not a good idea to date anybody in the same field (besides, I owe it to my future family to have at least one stable income), so I’m going to try and diversify through meet ups.
I think it would be helpful to challenge participants to envision the kind of partner they want. What would he be interested in? Where would he go?
I’m going to see if there are any beginner running clubs around. Trying to stay fit and meet a man — two birds with one stone! :P

That too is a great idea.
